This project has its genesis in one I started back in the 1980s but never really got off the ground, and it is a living document that will continue to grow and be refined indefinitely. Titles of short stories appear in quotes and are followed by the date and venue of their first publication in parentheses. Thanks to Wikipedia for providing some of the material that appears on this site!
